Step 1. Indicate whether you are interested in becoming a member of a student organisation

Step 2. Accept the terms and conditions of re-enrolment

Step 3. Select subjects for study in both semesters.

Important things to note:

  1. You must complete all 3 steps within the timely enrolment period to ensure you are not fined.
  2. You should still re-enrol if you are planning to take a leave of absence
  3. Select subjects that you would like to do, regardless of how well you think you will perform in your semester 2 subjects.
  4. If you change your mind or find you have not passed the required prerequisite subjects once the results are released for semester 2, you will have until the second week of semester 1 2010 to change your subject enrolment.
  5. Be aware of the course structure and rules when re-enrolling or amending your subjects for 2010. Full details can be found in the Course and Subject Handbook - to be released on Friday 23rd October.
  6. This re-enrolment period is the time at which you are able to enrol in Summer Semester subject for the 2009/10 period.

Course Rules

It is your responsibility to meet the course rules so you are able to complete the Bachelor of Biomedicine.

  1. You must complete 75 points of breadth studies (of these no more than three subjects can be level 1 and you must complete at least one level 3 subject)
  2. You cannot complete more than 10 level 1 subjects overall in your course
  3. You must complete a major consisting of 50 points (equivalent to four subjects)
  4. You must complete 25 points of selective subjects (these can be at level 1, 2 or 3^)

You can check these rules and requirements further by looking up the Bachelor of Biomedicine on the Course and Subject Handbook.

^pending approval from the Course Coordinator

Breadth

Breadth subjects can be chosen from any subject outside the Science and Biomedicine disciplines. Remember that you are only able to enrol in three 1st year level breadth subjects and at least one must be at 3rd year level. Refer to the breadth webpage within the Course and Subject Handbook for full details on subjects available as breadth within the Bachelor of Biomedicine.

A breadth sequence is no longer required as part of your degree, you are able to take a mixture of subjects you enjoy.

Selecting a Major

Make sure you research the fields of study available. The Biomedicine Majors booklet [PDF 217KB] can be used as a guide of subjects required to successfully complete a major; the final and complete information is available from the Course and Subject Handbook.

First Year Students [re-enrolling into 2nd year in 2010]

In choosing your selective subjects, you will need to have a think about which major you are interested in pursuing as some of the majors have 2nd year level selective pre-requisites. If you feel that you might need some additional information about a particular major, the major coordinators are available to talk to you; their contact details can be found on the majors flyers.

A list of selective subjects has been created to assist you with your selection. Please do not consider this a definitive list. If there are subjects you would like to study that are not on this list, and you believe you meet the pre-requisites, please speak to a Biomedicine Student Adviser from the MDHS Student Centre.

Bachelor of Biomedicine 2010 Selectives List - version 1: 30th September 2009 [PDF 75KB]*

* This list may be amended at any time at the discretion of the MDHS Student Centre. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they meet the pre-requisite requirements for any selectives.

Second Year Students [re-enrolling into 3rd year in 2010]

  1. Review the 2009 presentation from Prof Mark Hargreaves advising about selecting you major
